A videotape of Angelina Jolie allegedly snorting and smoking heroin has been discovered, and some kind soul is now reportedly offering the item for sale.

Trash purveyor the National Enquirer reports that the tape, supposedly starring Angelina Jolie, shows the star taking drugs with a group of her mates sometime during the 90s.

A source tells the magazine that the tape's owner is seeking US $70,000 for its sale.

"It appears to be from the 1990s, right before Angelina - then in her 20s - was breaking out in films like Gia and Girl, Interrupted, which won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

"The key part of the tape is Angelina doing heroin. She says, 'Wow, this is really good smack - not that cheap crap that's been stepped on.' Angelina is seen sniffing white lines from a plate, and then as the drug cooks on tinfoil, she deeply sucks in its smoke through a tube."

Jolie has freely admitted to using hard drugs in the past.

"I've done coke, heroin, ecstasy, LSD everything. I hate heroin because I've been fascinated with it. I'm not immune, but I won't do it now, at all," she was quoted as saying some years ago.

News of the existence of a drug video allegedly starring the pregnant star is hardly shocking. However, there's no doubt that the release of such a video could damage her reputation as a do-gooder and world saver.

Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe, causes Gulf storm

A raunchy Lebanese singer is causing controversy in Bahrain, where she is due to perform for the first time.

All but one of the members of the Gulf kingdom's Islamist-dominated parliament have approved a motion urging the government to ban Haifa Wehbe's show.

They objected on the grounds that the pop superstar's performance would be sexually provocative, violating Islamic conventions and Bahrain's traditions.

Organisers had earlier promised she would dress modestly during the show.

Four years ago, MPs forced the satellite channel MBC to suspend the production of an Arabic version of Big Brother being filmed in Bahrain because it offended "the virtues and traditions of the Arab world".

'Sexual singer'

Ms Wehbe's reputation for revealing clothes and sexy performances have not endeared her to Bahrain's Islamist-dominated parliament.

But she did well in a list of the most desirable women compiled by the website, AskMen.com, and she has featured in People Magazine's most beautiful list.

Her career began at the age of 16 when she won the title of Miss South Lebanon in a beauty contest.

Ms Wehbe went on to become a runner-up for Miss Lebanon, a top fashion model and to release three albums and make countless TV appearances.

She is famous throughout the Middle East, but still relatively unknown outside the Arab world.

One website said Ms Wehbe's sex appeal could be measured by the number of prudes she had annoyed.

At one point, newspapers criticised her provocative dancing, saying she moved every possible part of her body including parts that have no muscles in them.

But, for the family concert in Bahrain on Wednesday evening, the organisers had promised the singer would dress modestly.

That was not enough for Bahrain's parliament which is dominated by MPs who regularly conduct campaigns against entertainment they think is too liberal.

One of the MPs called her a sexual singer who spoke with her body, not her voice.

Salman Rushdie kisses Scarlett Johansson in Falling Down

Quite how the 60-year-old Sir Salman came to be involved in the musical career of movie starlet Miss Johansson, 23, remains a mystery.

The four-minute video is for Falling Down ,the new single from Miss Johansson’s forthcoming debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head.

The star of Lost In Translation and The Other Boleyn Girl has turned her hand to singing, and the album features covers of tracks by Tom Waits. David Bowie performs backing vocals. Reaction has been mixed, with some critics suggesting she stick to the day job.

The video is conceived as a day in the life of the star, showing her in the make-up studio, in front of the cameras and meeting fans, before returning home. The brief scenes featuring Sir Salman carry no explanation.

Miss Johansson is currently dating young actor Ryan Reynolds, but in the past has expressed a preference for the older man, which could provide a clue to Sir Salman’s appearance.

“I’ve always mixed with people older than me. I’m often told I appeal to older men more than guys my own age. I think that’s pretty cool. Older men understand women more. They usually have better taste. I take it as a compliment,” she has said.

Sir Salman, meanwhile, appears to have little trouble attracting beautiful women.

His most recent wife was Padma Lakshmi, a statuesque model turned TV presenter 23 years his junior. She left him last year and they are currently divorcing.

Miss Lakshmi was wife number four, but Sir Salman claimed this week that he does not believe in marriage.

“It’s strange, given that I’ve been married four times, but I actually don’t think marriage is necessary,” he tells next month’s Elle magazine.

“Girls like it, especially if they’ve never been married before - it’s the dress. Girls want a wedding, they don’t want a marriage. If only you could have weddings without marriages.”

The Booker Prize-winning author, knighted last year for services to literature, went into hiding in 1989 when the Ayatollah Khomeini issue a fatwa calling for his execution.

He returned to public life a decade later and is now a regular on the social scene. This is not his first unlikely cameo - he has appeared on stage with Bono, the singer from U2, and played himself in the 2001 film Bridget Jones’s Diary.

In telephone calls to Miss Thurman's mother and brother, and at least 19 emails to her father, Jack Jordan said he believed he and the Hollywood actress had met in a previous life and would never be happy unless they were together.

Jordan, 37, who is accused of stalking and aggravated harassment, spent hours loitering on the steps of Miss Thurman's Manhattan home and once managed to visit her trailer on a film set, the New York court heard.

Dr Robert Thurman, an academic at Columbia University, told the court that his daughter, a star of Pulp Fiction and The Producers, had been alarmed by Jordan.

He said she had been particularly concerned for the safety of her two young children.

Jordan denies the charges, which carry up to a year in prison. His lawyer claimed Jordan thought he was being romantic, adding that he was "creepy" and "obsessive" but not criminal.

Miss Thurman's mother, Nena, told the court that Jordan called her home in Woodstock, New York state.

"He told me in so many words that he and my daughter had known one another in a previous life and were destined to be together, that he knew this, but she didn't know it."

She added that when she tried to tell him that he was indulging in a fantasy and that her daughter had no interest in him, Jordan threatened to kill himself.

Miss Thurman, 38, called the police but also hired a private detective and installed surveillance cameras around the house.

The case continues.
